How To Luge
Luging is very simple to pick up.
When riding straight the basic position is lying flat on your back, knees slightly bent and looking over your chest.
When starting a slope you just sit up from luging position and then push your ass off.
When cornering you brake with your outside leg and if you need to you can sit up and lean your body into the curve.
To stop sit up, place your feet on the floor and press down. If you need stronger braking power you can pull the front of the luge off the floor to help you apply more stopping force.
If you are about to crash into something there a few things to think about:
- Try not to slide along the floor too much because you will shred your skin
- Try to crash off into something soft, such as a garden or grassy verge
- Try to avoid hitting cars or walls cos that can really hurt
- Don’t trap your ankles under the seat pan because your ankles will snap
- Use you luge as a shield because it will stop a wall hurting as much
My final pointer is not to crash in the first place!
